Brazil v Croatia: Brazil player ratings - Chelsea's Oscar is diamond in the rough

Oscar for Chelsea

Oscar shone out from the rest of his team mates as Brazil nervously won to get their World Cup campaign underway.

Brazil Player Ratings

Julio Cesar 6 - Had some errors but made up for them with decent saves towards the end as Croatia mounted pressure.

Daniel Alves 6 - Got forward down the wing lots, but looked slow tracking back and stopping crosses.

Thiago Silva 6 - Didn’t do anything wrong, but didn’t do anything special either, a non plus game for Silva.

David Luiz 6 - Looked reasonably solid and got forward well but his heading was especially poor.

Marcelo 6 - Was unlucky with the goal but occasionally helped going forward.

Paulinho 6 - Sacrificed at 1-1 for an attacking player and didn’t have much of a chance to make an impact on the game.

Gustavo 7 - Played well and did what the team asked of him, just didn't exercise any real defining moments.

Oscar 8 - Star player. Excellent crosses, always got the ball into dangerous positions and executed a crafty toe poked goal.

Fred 5 - May have won the penalty, dubious as it was. But was non-existent for most the game.

Neymar 7 - Highs and lows in the game, bagged a brace but lost the ball in position a few times and his theatrics left much to be desired.

Hulk 5 - Tried to get forward as best he could but much like Fred he was missing most of the game.

Hernanes 5 - N/A

Bernard 5 - N/A

Ramires 5 - N/A
