Arsenal latest: Sagna signs for City; Gunners get £5.6m windfall

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Bacary Sagna will officially become a Manchester City player this summer. The French international right-back had made it clear that he was wanting a move away from the club this summer, as he sought a new challenge and the contract he was not being offered at The Emirates.

He has joined City, to provide competition for Pablo Zabaleta, on a three-year deal.

Sagna will wear the number '3' shirt, as he did at The Emirates, for the Premier League champions.

He becomes the latest Arsenal player to swap North London for City - following in the footsteps of Kolo Toure, Samir Nasri and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Chelsea may have signed former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona - but Arsenal are also cashing in on the deal.

The Blues confirmed a deal to sign the former Arsenal captain yesterday, but Fabregas admitted that Arsenal did not want to exercise the buy-back clause they had written into his contract.

But The Gunners are entitled to a portion of the fee Chelsea have paid for the player - to the reported tune of £5.6 million.

Arsenal may use that money to fund the return of Carlos Vela.

This deal continues to rumble on, with fresh reports today suggesting Arsenal will definitely bring him back to the club this summer.

Barcelona have reportedly priced Alex Song at £20 million. The former Arsenal star, who has been linked back to The Emirates, has struggled for first team football at the club recently and Barca are willing to let him leave.
