The Spaniard was a confirmed Blue yesterday, Thursday, after exchanging terms with the Stamford Bridge side - he begins his five-year tenure once he finishes his World Cup responsibilities with Spain in what Gray has claimed represents "great business!" for Jose Mourinho.
"I know people will say they've got this player and that player, even Oscar… but this is different, totally different," said Gray to commentary partner Richard Keys in the latter's video diary.
Chelsea had a virtual clear run at Cesc, after Arsenal ruled themselves out of the competition for the 26-year-old's signature, with Fabregas stating that the Blues were the best option for him at this stage in his career.
Fabregas is able to play in a variety of midfield positions, including in the hole just behind the striker and at the base of a midfield, next to a more defensive-minded destroyer. It is this role Gray believes Mourinho will eventually field Fabregas in.
"I think having Matic [and Cesc] in the middle area of that football pitch will be fantastic for Chelsea; [it will] elevate them. He and Oscar play different roles. It's a really good piece of business."
Gray concluded: "If people said would you swap David Luiz and £50 million for Cesc Fabregas - all day long!"
