In one of the biggest stories so far this summer, former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas has finally completed his protracted £27m move to Chelsea from boyhood club Barcelona.
The 27-year-old had long been linked with a Nou Camp exit, and it appeared the Gunners would be his first choice given his affection for the North Londoners and an agreement in his Barcelona contract giving Arsenal the first option to buy him back.
On making the news official, Cesc Fabregas uploaded a special message to the Chelsea supporters and expressed his excitement at playing at Stamford Bridge next season.
He said: "Hi Chelsea fans, it’s an honour for me to have signed for this great club. I cannot wait to play for you guys next season, see you all at The Bridge.”
Arsene Wenger, however, opted against signing the former Arsenal favourite and with other options awaiting him, Cesc Fabregas accepted the move to Chelsea, believing they were the best choice.
"I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice," he said, quoted by The BBC.
The transfer has naturally been met with scepticism, with Arsenal fans seemingly upset that the Spanish international has opted for the Blues whereas leading figures are intrigued to see how he performs under Barcelona rival Jose Mourinho.
For Chelsea, though, it’s a great acquisition and Cesc Fabregas’ ability in the Premier League is evident from the time he spent at Arsenal.
