Tottenham latest, club targeting Inter striker, Lamela told he has 'key role'

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday evening.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is reported to be interested in Inter Milan's Ricardo Alvarez according to the Metro.

Alvarez has rejected a new contract offer from Inter, and Spurs are said to be preparing an £8 million bid for the 26-year-old midfielder, as the club looks to strengthen in the middle of the park.

Erik Lamela has been assured that he has key role at Tottenham by Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino according to the Daily Mail.

Record signing Lamela had a difficult first season at White Hart Lane, but Pochettino has reportedly spoken to the player about how he fits into the side. Lamela has been the subject of interest from clubs in Italy according to the report.

Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino has given his first interview since taking charge at the club, talking about his philosophy and what the players are to expect, and says the players don't have to be afraid of his 'demanding style'.

He told Spurs TV: "Our style is demanding - sometimes too much but we use common sense. We demand a lot from them because that is our style.

"Our philosophy is “suffer in training so you don't suffer in the game”. But the players don’t have to be afraid because we work with common sense all the time."

And finally, Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo refused to deny any interest from Spurs prior to him signing a new contract at his current clubs Juventus.

Pirlo is quoted in the Daily Mail, saying: "Past interest from Tottenham Hotspur? I don’t know if Italian football is better than English football, but it was my choice to continue with Juventus, which is a place where I’m comfortable and where I can win."
