Can Russia star replicate his Euro 2012 form in Brazil?

Alan Dzagoev starred for Russia at the European Championship two years ago, and he will be keen to do the same in Brazil this month.

Arsenal and Chelsea were among many established European teams monitoring the movements of young Russian Alan Dzagoev not so long ago.

The attacking midfielder caught the eye after his dazzling display during the 2012 European Championships, where he bagged three goals alongside prestigious players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Mario Balotelli and Fernando Torres.

Now, such transfer talk has cooled off. While Dzagoev continues to impress for Russian side CSKA Moscow; football will appreciate a gentle reminder of what the 23-year-old can do.

Russia manager Fabio Capello, formerly in charge of the England national team, have set up and edified an efficient side with a good work ethic. Dzagoev will provide a constant threat down the right-hand side, as his tricky yet hard-working nature will ensure that Russia provide some purpose on the wing.

With youth on his side, Dzagoev will want to impress at another major international tournament to show that he wasn't a one-hit wonder. Performing well at the World Cup could open up opportunities for him in the Premier League.

Dzagoev will kick off his World Cup campaign on his birthday, with Russia opening their account against group rivals South Korea on June 17. Group H will prove to be tricky to get through, with the likes of the South Korea, Algeria and Belgium all fighting Russia for a place in the next round.

Can Dzagoev replicate his form from Euro 2012 and steer Capello and his men closer to a World Cup shock?
