Suso has confirmed he's aware of talks which could lead to his Anfield exit.
Liverpool youngster Suso could be on his way out of Anfield after the player himself admitted talks were under way over a deal between Liverpool and Portuguese giants FC Porto.
The player himself has said the plan was always to go back to Liverpool and fight for a place in Brendan Rodgers’ first team after doing everything asked of him on loan at Almeria last season.
There’s no reason he shouldn’t have been optimistic over a future at Liverpool because one of Rodgers’ biggest traits is the way he throws younger players into his side and allows them to blossom.
However, in this case, Suso may never get that chance.
“My priority is to stay here [at Liverpool], but Porto is an excellent option if I leave Liverpool. I know there’s negotiations,” he’s quoted by the Mail.
The 20-year-old made 35 appearances in all competitions for Almeria last season scoring three goals and producing nine assists.
That suggests he’s put a lot of pressure on Rodgers to make a decision ahead of a very important season next year for the Reds.
Unfortunately for the youngster, Liverpool are well stocked in terms of central midfield reserves and Raheem Sterling holds the primary right midfield position.
For Suso to feature in the first team, Rodgers would have more than likely needed to switch him over to the left hand side, where there is currently a gap across the middle of the team.
However, with the Champions League and a more difficult Premier League season bearing down on the club like a steam train, few fans could argue against the acquisition of a high profile winger in the transfer market.
The player has said he’ll only renew his Liverpool contract if he’s playing frequently at the club and if Rodgers can’t guarantee that, as unfortunate as it would be, don’t be surprised if Suso is playing his football in Portugal next season.
