Manchester United transfer news: 117-goal star linked; six players tipped for exit

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United’s new manager Louis van Gaal is considering a £20million move for Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez according to the Guardian.

The Chilean has already been linked with United this summer, but the latest report claims van Gaal is an admirer of the player and that the 62-year-old could sell certain players to make way for Sanchez’s arrival.

The latest report claims Shinji Kagawa, Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia could all see their United future’s in doubt, while Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez are also mentioned in the piece.

In truth, based on recent performances, Nani and Young are the players who would most likely leave to make way for Sanchez, who would be an absolute snip at £20million.

In other news, the Daily Star claims United are competing with Arsenal for FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez.

The prolific Colombian has netted a remarkable 60 club goals in the last two seasons, but despite suggestions a move to Valencia was close, it now seems his options remain very open.

Jackson’s agent Peppino Tirri has been quoted as telling Corriere Giallorosso, “We’ve got meetings set up with numerous European clubs, as he is of interest to Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal and Valencia, but also important Italian sides.”

Jackson certainly has an eye for goal, netting 117 club goals in his career to date, but it is whether he can transfer his fine form to another league.
