Atletico Madrid defender and reported Manchester United target Miranda has confirmed he has received offers from England.
The Brazilian enjoyed an outstanding campaign for the La Liga champions last season, making 52 appearances in total.
He also played every single minute of Atletico’s Champions League campaign, as they ultimately fell short in heart-breaking fashion against fierce rivals Real Madrid.
Reports last month claimed United wanted to bring the 29-year-old to Old Trafford as part of the restructuring process following the departures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. But while those stories have since gone quiet, they may be about to start up again.
This is because Miranda has been quoted as saying he has received offers from both England and Spain during an interview with Brazilian radio station Radio Espn.
In quotes since published on Sky Sports, the centre-back is quoted as saying, “I have some offers and we are negotiating.
“I have offers from Spanish and English leagues and from some less important ones too.
“My agent is in Europe to decide my future; my buy-out fee at Atletico Madrid is €30million but that can be negotiated.”
Given his age it remains unlikely whether or not Louis van Gaal will move for Miranda, despite his outstanding recent form in Spain.
Younger alternatives have been linked with United, including the likes of Bruno Martins Indi and Mats Hummels. And in truth both would be better options for van Gaal’s new-look side. But if they prove impossible, and Miranda can maintain his recent form, he could be a canny signing; assuming of course one of those offers he is talking about has come from Old Trafford.
