Liverpool’s reported deal for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno is still up in the air but the Daily Mail suggests he’s already been sold the Liverpool vision.
The paper claims that the positives and potential of an Anfield move were stressed to the Spaniard when he attended the recent wedding of current Liverpool youngster Luis Alberto.
“Moreno was at the wedding of Liverpool’s Luis Alberto on Saturday, according to Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo, where he heard good reports about the Anfield dressing room,” reports the Mail.
That snippet of information may surprise some Liverpool fans due to the frustrating first season that Alberto had in English football.
The 21-year-old featured in just 13 appearances in all competition for the first team and the under-21 side, which suggests that Brendan Rodgers must be doing a world class job in terms of man management if the positive report came from Alberto.
The latest reports suggest that the move has stalled due to a difference over the payment structure of an £18 million deal, but that’s something that Liverpool officials should be able to rectify.
Liverpool is a good club for Moreno because of several key factors, which are likely to have been stressed to the left-back at Alberto’s wedding.
Firstly, Rodgers is a manager who doesn’t have a problem investing first team game time into his younger players.
If Moreno is good enough defensively, then he’ll be given the chance to become one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and the Champions League next season.
Secondly, the team spirit at Anfield is second to none at the moment and got the side through some difficult spells last season.
The team are going to be challenged in a variety of ways heading into the next campaign and it’s important for a new player like Moreno to feel that his teammates are supporting him as he adapts to a new culture and club.
Thirdly, the way Liverpool train and play suits Moreno’s style of play. Liverpool play quick, pass and move, counter attacking football which plays to Moreno’s key strengths of pace and protection of possession.
The Anfield vision has reportedly been sold so fans should be confident the club can work through any setbacks.
