Photo trickery: How bald pictures of David Luiz fooled Gary Lineker

Former Chelsea star David Luiz has not had his haircut, despite what the Match of the Day host may have suggested.

Ahead of Brazil's opening World Cup game at the weekend, Selecao centre-back David Luiz has been rumoured to have undergone a major fashion change.

BBC Match of the Day host Gary Lineker tweeted the above photo to his 2.4 million followers, unaware the photos were not genuine.

As the below Tweet below illustrates, the central picture is identical, and pictures Luiz with hair in the same still shot.

Luiz's Chelsea teammate Willian last season fooled fans into thinking his iconic haircut was also being cut off, by posting pictures of himself on his Instagram page apparently at a barber's, only to explain to fans a day later it was just a prank.

One star who did go through with it was Real Madrid's Luka Modric, who fulfilled a promise to shave off his flowing locks after Real Madrid won La Decima.

Perhaps if Brazil win the World Cup this summer, which they begin against Modric's Croatia this week, then David Luiz will celebrate by turning up to new club PSG looking like a changed man.
