Swedish sound company Dirac today revealed one of the most advanced sound optimisation technologies for automobiles and high performance home theatres, the Dirac Unison.
Volvo will be the first car manufacturer to license the technology provided by Swedish sound firm. It will first feature in the Volvo XC90 incorporating it with the Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
Dirac Unison claim that they are bringing 'an entirely new approach to sound optimisation' and that they are 'setting the bar for automotive and high performance audio manufacturers'.
The sound company's in-car audio technology co-optimises the loudspeakers in frequency, time and space to create the very best possible bass and clarity. Dirac will enable the recreation of individual acoustic environments from certain performance venues; for example by just the touch of a button users can be immersed in the acoustic likeness of Gothenburg Concert Hall.
Dr. Mathias Johansson, CEO of Dirac explained: “We have witnessed a recent surge in interest for advanced technologies focused on the natural and accurate reproduction of sound.
“It is exciting for us to add Dirac Unison to our portfolio of technologies, further enabling our licensees in their quest to satisfy consumer demand for superb sound."
