Roman Abramovich is counting on Eden Hazard to continue to represent Chelsea.
That is the view of the player himself, a coveted attacker with Paris Saint-Germain linked with a huge £68 million offer, who said that he has been told by the Blues owner that he is wanted at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking with Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure, Hazard said: "I am 100 per cent certain to stay at Chelsea. Everyone knew that really."
He continued: "I am under contract with Chelsea and I want to stay. We are talking quietly [with owner Roman Abramovich]. It is just the start. He has told me he wants me to stay and that its 'a question of trust for me'. That shows I have done a good job and he is counting on me."
In this HITC: Sport analysis, Hazard's ability can go from great to Lionel Messi standard due to the imminent arrival of one player. Check out the statistics, argument and report here.
One player whose future is a little less certain is Thibaut Courtois, the goalkeeper who excelled for Atletico Madrid over a hat-trick of seasons, culminating in a La Liga triumph and Champions League final outing last term.
talkSPORT indicate that 'reports in Spain' suggest Atletico are desperate to land Courtois on a permanent basis and hope to take advantage over any dalliance in Jose Mourinho's mind as to keep with the reliability of Petr Cech, or fast-track Courtois.
One of Mourinho's former players, Xabi Alonso of Real Madrid, hints that The Special One may not be as special as he makes himself out to be, reporting a fractious dressing room in the Portuguese's last season in charge at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
"As a person, Mourinho is very demanding - he is demanding with himself and demanding with the players," he said. "There were problems in his final year - there were some conflicts between individuals, which had repercussions on the dynamic of the team as a whole."
Mourinho, meanwhile, has explained that John Terry and Frank Lampard once begged him to take the England job, after his first reign as Chelsea boss, but was talked out of the role by his wife.
"At that time I could not get an English club because of my contract when I left Chelsea. I could get the national team but not a club. Lampard, Terry, Joe Cole, everybody was saying, 'Come, come, come' [but] my wife told me not to take it and she was right.
"I cannot wait two years for a big competition. I cannot be spending two years playing against Kazakhstan and San Marino. What would I do during the week? I could go to see the players training with their teams, I ask for permission to spend time with them and to have individual coaching with them, I have to work with them, I can improve things.
"Maybe in 15 years [it will be the job for me] but not seven."
And finally, ex Blue Damien Duff has joined Melbourne City in the A-League.
