Liverpool's Moreno ultimatum

Liverpool are ready to walk away from transfer negotiations to sign Alberto Moreno, report The Mirror, unless Sevilla drop their £18 million asking price for the left-back. Liverpool had been strongly rumoured to be closing on a deal but have become frustrated with the way they feel Sevilla have upped their demands. The paper tout Ryan Bertrand of Chelsea as a possible alternative.

Arsenal to move for ex-Tottenham star?

Arsenal are eyeing up a deal for Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker, report The Mail. Caulker was surprisingly sold by Spurs last summer for £8 million and has been capped by and scored for England. The centre-back was one of Cardiff's best players last season and is expected to seal a Premier League switch this summer, with Liverpool also interested.

Double deal for City

Manchester City are close to sealing a deal for two players, report The Mail. It is claimed that Fernando will sign from Porto for £14.5 million, with Bacary Sagna ready to clinch his free transfer from Arsenal. The report adds that City are monitoring Eliaquim Mangala of Porto and Mehdi Benatia of Roma as they look to strengthen at centre-back.

Colback crosses the divide

Sunderland's Jack Colback has sealed a controversial switch to rivals Newcastle United. The midfielder left the Black Cats upset, who released a short statement explaining they were not even given a chance by the player to persuade him to stay. Aston Villa to clinch signing

Former Chelsea and Liverpool attacker Joe Cole is set to join Aston Villa. Cole has released by West Ham, after fading during his second spell with the club. The Star report that boss Paul Lambert sees him as a perfect mentor for Villa's youngsters, and is poised to succeed in tempting him to snub MLS offers and sign a two-year deal.
