Manchester United transfer news: van Gaal assesses ideal midfielder; £15m sale possible

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United are willing to listen to offers for last summer’s deadline-day arrival Marouane Fellaini, according to the Times.

David Moyes splashed £27.5million on the Belgium international at the end of a transfer window that had been hugely frustrating for the new United boss.

And it did not help when Fellaini struggled to make an impact on the team and later suffered an injury that side-lined him for much of the season.

The former Everton man did show glimpses of what he could do in matches against Crystal Palace and Hull City, but it now appears United would be willing to accept a £12.5million loss, reportedly willing to sell him for around £15million.

In other news, the Manchester Evening News reports that new United boss Louis van Gaal will keep tabs on Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal this summer, with a view of possibly making a move.

Vidal’s Chile are in the same World Cup group as van Gaal’s Holland, and the report claims the 62-year-old is assessing whether or not to make a move for a player who would transform the midfield at Old Trafford.
