Manchester City latest: £12m arrival this week; Hart on former England errors

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City will finally complete a move for FC Porto midfielder Fernando this week according to the Mirror.

The player was tipped to move back in January, only for a deal to fall through. But it is now being claimed that the two clubs have settled on a £12million fee, with the possibility of that rising to £16million after add-ons.

Fernando impressed last season for the Portuguese side and could form a formidable defensive-midfield partnership with Fernandinho next season and beyond.

Of course there is also the suggestion that Yaya Toure could move on, allowing Fernando to take up his natural position and Fernandinho to move further forward to compensate for the Ivorian’s absence.

In other news, Joe Hart has been speaking about the errors that previous England goalkeepers have made.

In quotes published by ESPN, the City stopper said, “You have to be positive and look forward. No one is going out there to make mistakes. The likelihood of it happening, you never know. You look to be positive.”

Hart will be hoping to start as he means to go on when England face Italy on Saturday in their opening group game. And a good performance and clean sheet there could set Roy Hodgson’s men on their way to a knockout stage from where anything is possible.
