Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has revealed his struggles through injury have been a constant issue for the last six years since his ankle injury suffered on international duty with Netherlands.
"Fitness wise I've been making steps in the last couple of weeks," he said. "Sometimes big steps, sometimes smaller steps but I'm feeling alright. I had a little issue with my groin the last couple of days but I can't even call that an injury.
"I've been playing with pain for the last 5-6 years; every single game. I can't really think of one game that I've started without having a niggle or some pain somewhere so I'm used to that,” he added.
In transfer news, reports suggest Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman could move to United this summer after Roma ‘softened’ their stance on the Netherlands international who had been linked with a move to Old Trafford next January according to his agent last week.
Reports originating in Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Roma are willing to entertain offers around £28 million for the 24-year-old.
