Transfer Clock: 22 days to go under the Transfer Window opens, here are the key stories you need to know...
Another Newcastle deal?
Newcastle United are poised to sign striker Bafetimbi Gomis, report The Mirror. The Lyon forward is a free agent and has been linked on and off with the Magpies over the last year. Only last week reports emerged suggesting the striker was bound for Turkey, while West Ham, Swansea, QPR and Sunderland have all been linked with him this month. Gomis has yet to commit to Newcastle, but their £70,000 per week offer is said to be 'swaying' him.
Arsenal Vela twist
After The Sun claimed last week that a deal to bring Carlos Vela to Arsenal was almost complete, a new twist has emerged. The Mail write that Real Sociedad officials have travelled to London to attempt to persuade Arsenal to sell their £3.25 million buy-back option on the Mexican. Arsenal are said to be driving a hard bargain and want a minimum of £6.5 million plus potential add ons.
Costa to Chelsea wrapped up?
Chelsea's transfer of Diego Costa is looking more and more of a done deal by the day. SkySports report an interview Costa undertook with a Spanish radio station in which he was asked outright whether he was signing for Chelsea to which he responded: "Well, it looks like that." The £32 million striker was claimed last week to have already undergone a medical with Chelsea officials.
Chelsea have reportedly made up their mind to reject any approach from Real Madrid for midfielder Ramires, report The Mail. Madrid were linked with a move for the Brazilian over the weekend, but Jose Mourinho is in no mood to sell a key player to his former club, especially at a time of transition with Frank Lampard being released. Mourinho does however want to sign Raphael Varane, Isco and Sami Khedira from his former club the same report states.
