Tottenham’s new coach Mauricio Pochettino is said to be interested in signing Esteban Cambiasso, formerly of Inter Milan.

According to Italian websites calciomercato.com and fedenerazzurra.com, Tottenham's coach is contemplating signing the Argentine midfielder, who has now left Inter after ten years on not being offered a contract extension.

Pochettino and Cambiasso played together in the Argentinian national team from 2000 to 2002, so Tottenham's coach is aware of the 32-year old's qualities, and his experience both domestically and in Europe could help bring more consistency to a Tottenham team that blew hot and cold last season.

Cambiasso appears to be open to a new challenge, and has retained his hunger and fitness - he was a regular starter for Inter Milan during last season. A disciplined professional, he spent 10 scandal-free years at Inter and would be a good role model for some of Tottenham's younger players.

Available on a free transfer, Cambiasso would represent value-for-money - something high on Chairman Daniel Levy's list of priorities right now. He is also a typical Pochettino signing - a seasoned professional who will work well with developing talent.
