PHOTO: Arsenal trio heading to Brazil

Arsenal star Lukas Podolski has posted a picture of him, Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and fellow members of the German national team.

There is no going back now for the German national team as they have boarded the plane and touched down in Brazil ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

In the build-up to the tournament, Germany initially struggled in a couple of friendlies before a Lukas Podolski-inspired second-half performance against Armenia left them in buoyant mood.

The Arsenal star came on as a substitute for the injured Marco Reus, and along with fellow club teammate Mesut Ozil, they inspired Germany to hammer visitors 6-1 in Mainz.

While Germany will call upon the Gunners duo to provide the flair in Brazil, fellow Arsenal centre-back Per Mertesacker is arguably just as important - along with Matt Hummels, he forms the base of the side.

The 29-year-old 6'6" defender has 98 caps to his name, and in what is expected to be his last World Cup for his nation, he will be hoping to reach triple figures with Germany safely through to the next round.

Along with the trio in the recent photo is Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and Real Madrid star Sami Khedira, looking rather confident after successfully returning from his long injury layoff.

Portugal, Ghana and the USA are the teams who accompany Germany in what could be described as another 'Group of Death', although one would have to be a brave man to bet against the European giants from navigating their way through.
