United reportedly open talks with Barcelona about €25m Alexis Sanchez

According to a report in Italy, Manchester United have opened talks with Barcelona about the transfer of Alexis Sanchez.

Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Barcelona regarding the possible €25million transfer of Alexis Sanchez.

The claim comes from Italian newspaper La Stampa, which suggests Louis van Gaal’s side have made their move for a player who is widely tipped to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

United were strongly linked with the exciting Chilean during his time in Italy, but Sir Alex Ferguson failed to get his man then, as Alexis opted instead to move to Barca where he has enjoyed mixed fortunes.

The 25-year-old is set star at this summer’s World Cup, as he comes face-to-face with some of his current club-mates in a group containing Spain, Holland and Australia.

But it also means van Gaal will have the chance to see him up close, although if the latest report is to be believed, the Dutchman has already made his mind up.

La Stampa looks at the Alexis rumours from a Juventus perspective, with the Serie A champions strongly linked with bringing the player back to Italy. But it seems United may have made a move to sign a player who would be their most exciting wide-man since a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.

For €25million, it would be an absolute snip; meaning United fans are likely to be waiting with baited breath to discover if the latest report is true.
