After a couple of disappointing performances and criticism from the German press following two home draws against Poland and Cameron, the Germany national team put on a rampant second-half performance to comprehensively defeat Armenia 6-1.
Despite enjoying the majority of the possession and creating good opportunities, Germany went into half-time with the scores level at 0-0.
With Arsena's Lukas Podolski coming on for the injured Marco Reus in the 45th minute and Gunners team mate Mesut Ozil also entering the fray at half-time, the Arsenal duo helped lift the hosts as they blew Armenia away in the second half.
Podolski assisted Chelsea striker Andre Schurrle for the opener, and then the 28-year-old Arsenal favourite himself got on the scoresheet to restore Germany's lead after Armenia equalised. A resurgent German team netted another four in the last 17 minutes, however, to end up comprehensive winners.
In the end, it was vintage Germany, and the Arsenal duo along with fellow domestic teammate Per Mertesacker played a huge part in a morale-boosting performance.
After the match Podolski and Ozil appeared to be in buoyant mood as they snapped a celebratory dressing room picture titled: ‘The London connection is ready for Brazil’.
Drawn alongside Portugal, Ghana and the USA in what many consider a ‘Group of Death’, Germany will certainly be hoping their London-based stars bring their A game to Brazil.
