Swansea City have made a bid for a 24-year-old Holland-based striker according to the media in that country.
The 24-year-old is rated at €9million by his current club according to the report, which states that the likes of Sunderland and West Ham United are also interested in the player.
Sigthorsson plays predominantly as a centre-forward, although he can also play from either wing when required.
Last season he scored 12 goals including 10 in the Eredivisie, and if he does arrive at the Liberty Stadium he could form a new-look strike partnership with Luc Castaignos.
The move could be seen as an attempt to ease the problems caused by the possible departure of Wilfried Bony, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool linked with the prolific Ivorian.
But for now it seems Swansea are moving quickly to strengthen as they look to push on next season, with the Iceland international firmly on their radar.
