Arsenal play-maker Mesut Ozil has sent a message to his fellow German international Marco Reus after the Borussia Dortmund star's World Cup hopes were ended by injury.
Reus suffered an ankle ligament injury during Germany's 6-1 friendly win over Armenia on Friday evening, and it has since been announced that he will not be part of Joachim Low's squad for this summer's tournament which kicks off on Thursday.
Reus has been in outstanding form for Dortmund in recent months and was tipped to be one of the stars of the World Cup. But now he will be forced to watch from home after the cruellest blow imaginable so close to the biggest footballing show on earth.
Arsenal's club-record signing Ozil took to Instagram shortly after the news broke to send a special message to Reus.
'There are moments when words fail,' Ozil wrote. 'Head up Marco.'
With Reus now out, there will be added pressure on Arsenal's star to rediscover his best form and help his country in a tournament some are tipping them to win.
