Manchester United have been linked with a whole host of players already this summer, but one name that has cropped up more than most is that of Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.
The teenager has enjoyed a sparkling campaign for the Saints and now heads to the World Cup when most people his age can only contemplate watching it on the television.
Since Patrice Evra signed a one-year contract extension at Old Trafford the Shaw rumours have died down somewhat. But there remain suggestions that the Frenchman's extended stay will not prevent United completing a move for Shaw in due course, with the former Monaco man potentially acting as a mentor for the teenager.
Rated at £30million, the Southampton player will not come cheap and may not come at all, but Louis van Gaal is said to be happy for his new club to move ahead for a deal that is said to have been put in motion by former United boss David Moyes.
Taking part in a Q&A session while on England duty, Shaw was asked what his biggest dream was in football, to which he replied that he would love to win the World Cup and the Champions League in the future.
He has his first shot at the former this summer - although few Three Lions fans truly believe Roy Hodgson's men will go all the way - but what of his European ambitions?
In the short term, United will not be aiming to win the Champions League but simply to qualify for it again, meaning Shaw may have to consider how long he wants to wait to get his first experience of a competition he has ambitions of ultimately winning.
