Manchester United transfer news: New favourites for £25m target; defender offered Midlands chance

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United are among the clubs reportedly being left behind in the race to sign Antoine Griezmann according to the Daily Star.

The report claims that Paris Saint-Germain now lead the race to sign the prolific Frenchman, who enjoyed a sparkling campaign for Real Sociedad last season and is rated at £25million.

Griezmann would be the perfect addition to United’s squad and could come for a fair amount less than the other attacking players linked with a move to Old Trafford.

But if the latest report is to be believed, he could be set for a return to his homeland rather than a stint in the Premier League.

In other news, the Daily Mail reports that outgoing United defender Rio Ferdinand has been offered a deal by Aston Villa. However, the former England international is said to favour a return to London.

Despite his age, 35-year-old Ferdinand could still do a job for one a top-flight side and the likes of Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United have been suggested as possible destinations.
