Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Ozil and Podolski performances for Germany

Arsenal stars Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski were vital in Germany's 6-1 win against Armenia last night.

Germany warmed up for their first World Cup game in fine fashion last night as they thrashed Armenia 6-1.

The performance saw several tremendous individual efforts, with two Arsenal stars right at the heart of the action; Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski.

Ozil found some of his best form in national colours with two assists during the game while Podolski was even better, with three assists and getting on the score sheet with a single strike.

The positive performance was significant for both players but probably more so in the case of Ozil.

Ozil has recently been heavily criticised by the German press for underperforming in the build up to the tournament.

He was described as a ‘disappointment’ recently in Die Welt, but responded superbly with a solid display of attacking midfield football.

However, he was anything but last night as the Germans proved they’re in great form ahead of their first game, justifying their tag as one of the favourites to lift the little golden trophy next month.

Podolski was one of Arsenal’s best players towards the end of last season.

He struggled to find his best form over the first half of the campaign but weighed in with some vital goals, as Everton hunted the Gunners, looking for that final Champions League place.

His performance will further convince Arsene Wenger that he should be starting in Arsenal’s midfield or attack next season and Jorgi Low that he should feature against Portugal in Germany’s first World Cup game.

While the pair of them only produced one goal between them last night, they controlled the game well, dictating the pace in the midfield and attack and creating space for their teammates to exploit.

Here’s what Arsenal fans had to say about both of their world class performances via social media website Twitter.
