Good news for City as Barcelona fans prefer £40m United target to Aguero

Marco Reus

Barcelona fans participating in an online poll have heavily voted in favour of signing Manchester United target Marco Reus over Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

Following the arrival of new Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, the club have been linked with a host of top stars as they look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign.

The Catalans finished the season without netting a major trophy for the first time in six years, and the supporters are hopeful of big changes this summer.

Aside from the departures of Carles Puyol and Victor Valdes, Cesc Fabregas is all-but set to leave the club whereas Ivan Rakitic appears likely to join.

One area which has been overlooked, however, is that of an attacker to link up with the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Manchester City striker Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero is a popular choice, given his friendship with Argentine teammate Messi and his fabulous form for the Citizens.

Aguero’s pace, movement and natural ability to finish would fit in well at the Nou Camp, though fortunately for Man City, it appears the supporters would prefer Manchester United target Marco Reus.

As a result of Barcelona’s recent interest the Borussia Dortmund playmaker and Manchester City striker Aguero, Barcelona-based paper Diario Sport conducted a poll asking supporters who they would prefer to sign.

Marco Reus convincingly came out on top, receiving a whopping 89% of the votes.

The German international has been linked with a move to The Red Devils for much of the season, with former United boss David Moyes a huge admirer of the 25-year-old.

It appears new boss Man United Louis Van Gaal is also a big fan, though he may end up losing out if reports that Barcelona having a verbal agreement to sign the £40m star are true.

Marco Reus has excelled in the Bundesliga over the past season, notching 16 goals and adding a further 13 assists in just 26 league matches.
