Italian journalist: Juve have made contact over Chelsea star

Romelu Lukaku

Italian journalist and transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Juventus have contacted Chelsea about signing striker Romelu Lukaku.

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the Italian giants are keen to add Lukaku this summer but Chelsea have placed a €25 million price tag on the Belgian forward's head.

He explained on his website that Juventus are "in search of an attacker for the future" and have made the Chelsea striker their number one target.

The Turin club are hoping to sign the powerful forward on loan with the option to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of next season.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Everton where he put in some excellent displays all season, scoring 16 and assisting eight in 33 appearances for the Toffees.

He was expected to go back to Stamford Bridge and make himself a regular but it would appear that Jose Mourinho is not his biggest fan, and the expected arrival of Diego Costa will only limit Lukaku's opportunities.

He will have the chance to prove his qualities on the biggest stage of all at the World Cup with Belgium and is expected to lead the line in the absence of Christian Benteke, and this will only add to his value and list of potential suitors.

Di Marzio explains that Chelsea are not willing to sell the former-Anderlecht man and have already rejected offers from German side Borussia Dortmund before they confirmed the signing of Ciro Immobile from Torino.

However, Juventus are believed to be confident of agreeing a deal for the services of Lukaku, and the players agent could have a lot to do with any transfer.

His well-known agent Mino Raiola also represents Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and is a close friend and former agent of Juve legend Pavel Nedved.

Juventus want to build a team for the future around Lukaku and are expected to make an offer to Chelsea in the near future after having already made contact with the Blues.
