Manchester united latest: Moyes has offers and Mangala comments on future

News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Sacked Manchester United manager David Moyes has turned down two job offers due to his desire to be involved in the Champions League.

“I have had a couple of opportunities to go back in and chosen not to do anything just now,” Moyes said. “I am going to look for what I feel is the right opportunity.”

“I got my real first taste of the Champions League this year and I thought I showed I can manage at that level,” he added. “I would like somewhere that would give me a chance of being in the Champions League or a club that has ambitions of being in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, former coach under Sir Alex Ferguson, Rene Meulensteen will not return to United despite links with a move back to the Red Devils under his Dutch colleague Louis van Gaal.

“I would have been keen to go back," said Meulensteen. “I spent 12 years at what is a fantastic club and never left Man Utd because I fell out with anyone there.”

"But they've chosen to appoint Louis van Gaal and he has decided to bring in his own people, so that is not an option. Have I spoken to Van Gaal? Yes, I know that is the case - it has been confirmed to me."

In transfer news, United target Eliaquim Mangala would prefer a move to Manchester to join either United or City, according to The Guardian.

Elsewhere, Spain boss Vincente del Bosque has ‘slammed’ the press for leaking his conversation with Gerard Pique confirmed that Spain star Cesc Fabregas will move from Barcelona on a €33 million deal this summer. With Manchester United, Chelsea and former club Arsenal in the mix, the Blues remain the favourites to sign the midfielder.

"I think it was unfair that the conversation was leaked," del Bosque told Radio Marca. "It's not for me to assess the club's decisions.”
