The player, who is with the German squad preparing for the World Cup, has been one of Europe's most sought after players this summer.
Normally a reliable source for information coming from Germany, ex Norway star Fjortoft looks like disappointing those hoping to see Kroos play his football in England, including United legend Paul Scholes.

The German playmaker was a target of David Moyes in his brief spell in charge, and continued to be linked with the club over Ryan Giggs' caretaker period, and into Louis van Gaal's first few days in charge.
It was then reported that Van Gaal decided against signing the 24-year-old, while the likes of Chelsea were said to be developing an interest.
Both English clubs may struggle to rival Champions League winners Real, with the many millions they are bankrolled by, and news that a representative of Kroos is already in discussion with the Spanish giants may well indicate a deal is only a matter of time away.
But until any transfer is announced, there is always the opportunity for another club to come in and offer the Germany star a more integral position in their team, as well as a larger salary - both sticking points in Kroos' negotiations to extend his Bayern contract, which expired next summer.
So Mr Woodward and Mr Gourlay, if you want to pick up your phones and make that call, now's the time!
