Arsenal's hopes of finding suitable right back cover have become more desperate after the agent of primary choice Bacary Sagna explained that his client would not renew terms with Arsenal, suggesting a move to Manchester City would soon materialise.
Toulouse FC defender Serge Aurier has been mooted as one possible recruit for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, while this HITC:Sport report indicated that, statistically-speaking, Arsenal should be targeting Dani Alves.
While the Barcelona star has not yet been reputably linked with the North Londoners, there is another Brazilian full back who has - FC Porto star Danilo, a £10 million-rated defender whose contract in Portugal expires in two years.
"I'll say what is usually said, I am contracted until 2016," the 22-year-old said to ESPN Brazil when addressing the media speculation. "I am playing at Porto and have been playing well, which makes you get linked with top clubs but there is a big difference between that and an offer that Porto accepts. I am happy at the moment and I am prepared to return to Porto.
"If something good for everyone comes along, we'll sit down, but for now it is just speculation."
Should Arsenal successfully negotiate a fee with Porto, personal terms with the player should - in theory - be easier to discuss as Danilo has long been desperate to tread a similar career path to his idol; Gilberto Silva.
