I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 5th June 2014, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 5th June 2013…
Arshavin a laugh
Arsenal confirmed that Andrey Arshavin would be leaving the club when his contract expired in the summer. The Russian, who was the club's record goalscorer when signed in 2009, only showed flashes of his brilliance during his time at the club and no contract extension was ever offered to him.
The 32-year-old went on to sign a deal with former club Zenit St Petersburg. He was not the only one told he was on his way in the summer. Sebastien Squillaci and Denilson were also informed that their contracts would not be renewed by the club.
Ney a good idea
Pele warned Neymar against joining Chelsea and Manchester City, it was revealed a year ago.
The Brazilian legend, who regularly gives public advice to the now Barcelona forward was speaking not long after the talent had joined Barca from Santos - and he said he advised him against a Premier League move:
"At that time he had the opportunity to play in England and I was one of those who voted against [the move] because he was beginning his career and for him in England the football is different, harder. In Barca in football is more technical and he has the opportunity to play at the best team in the world and with the best player in the world."
Pjanic at the disco
Bosnian international, and at the time a Tottenham Hotspur target, Miralem Pjanic revealed he was close to signing for Arsenal in August 2011.
However his father had given his word to Roma that he would leave for Italy - so he rejected the North London switch:
"I had a number of offers at the time and I was set to join Arsenal. I had agreed all of the conditions that had been put into place. However, my father had given his word to Roma and therefore I opted to sign for the Giallorossi instead."
