Xbox update for June - external storage and real names on Xbox Live

Xbox One System

The Xbox updates for June are beginning to be rolled out, with support for increased storage capacity and finding your friends using their real names.

This month we’ll be seeing some changes to Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. An update should have already reached you with an external storage feature, access to over 180 apps across both consoles, and the ability to see and search for friends by their real names. The updates are much-requested features from the community.

Major Nelson posted about the updates to be rolled out over on his blog yesterday. Which also stated that US Xbox Live Gold members will be given access to a free 3-month trial of Hulu in the coming days.

This week has already seen an update that allows Xbox One Gold members to take part in the Games with Gold program, which Xbox 360 owners have enjoyed for the past 12 months. On top of this there is now a ‘virtual member area’, allowing Xbox Live Gold members to see deals and discounts exclusive to them.

The video below showcases some of the features to be rolled out this month, check it out.
