Schmelzer agent hints at move, denies Inter link

The agent of Borussia Dortmund defender Marcel Schmelzer has denied rumours that Inter have approached his client.

Reports emerged earlier today that Inter were plotting a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Marcel Schmelzer, but the player's agent has played that speculation down.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Inter were considering a £8.5m swoop for the left-back, who has just been dropped from Germany's World Cup squad.

Schmelzer has also been linked to Liverpool and the latest quotes from the player's agent may prompt an approach from the Anfield outfit.

"There has been absolutely no discussion with Inter regarding Schmelzer," Mario Pichierri told Tuttomercatoweb.

"I have a good relationship with Inter's directors but I have never spoken to them about the player.

"In football these days players can leave clubs. Schmelzer is happy in Germany but after so much success in a Borussia Dortmund shirt he could consider moving abroad.

"If that were the case then Italy and England would be destinations he would be interested in."

These quotes certainly won't put off any club looking at Schmelzer and now that he won't be headed to Brazil his future may be open for discussion sooner.
