"As a competitor and a fan myself you want more," he said. "You want that team to go further. I remember the beginning of my Arsenal career we struggled for the first two years and then we won the FA Cup.
"We carried on and we became successful so hopefully they can do the same thing. As you can imagine as an Arsenal fan I was pretty happy that day."
The Gunners all-time record goalscorer believes the squad is filled with enough quality to go on and win the Premier League title, and feels the FA Cup win will be an inspiration in doing so.
"I think this team has talent - it goes without saying. When you see the season that Aaron Ramsey had, you can wonder what could have happened if he didn't get injured.
"As an Arsenal fan when you see Santi Cazorla play when you see, in a different way, Laurent Koscielny play - he is more of a hard worker, playing hard and when you see guys like Mesut Ozil, you can see Arsenal has a good future - but you have to back it up with something."
Arsene Wenger signed a new three-year deal with the club last week and Arsenal fans can start to feel optimistic about the future after winning their first trophy in nine years at Wembley last month.
The way they came from behind to win 3-2 showed great spirit, and they will need that throughout the upcoming campaign if they are to be crowned champions again.
The New York Red Bulls striker is waiting for the title along with all Arsenal supporters and feels that it is only a matter of time now until they claim top spot in a highly competitive Premier League.
"We will be here to support to make sure they bring something but I have no doubts about the quality of the team that they have and hopefully they can build on winning the the FA Cup and winning the title because that is what everybody is waiting for."
