Barcelona are widely reported to have put Cesc Fabregas up for sale, but one of their key players is not best pleased if that is the case.
Gerard Pique recently renewed his own contract until 2019, and appears to wish his club held his teammate in high regard.
He told Mundo Deportivo: "I do not know what will happen, but I hope he stays."
"Cesc has never been sufficiently evaluated in Barcelona. He is not valued as he deserves (to be)."
"Cesc would work in any club in the world, but this club is very complicated."
The comments are not likely to be well received at Barcelona, and could yet force the club to sit up and take notice.
Pique is explaining that the reason Fabregas has not been an unquantified success so far, is down to the club, rather than him.
Luis Enrique would be the fourth manager Fabregas would play under since joining in 2011, and it is time Barcelona enjoyed another period of stability.
His words may yet force the club into a re-think, and leave the teams chasing his signature back to square one, if Barcelona decide the best solution is for Cesc to stay put.
