Arsenal transfer news: Vela to return, £30m defender targeted and Fabregas future

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this morning.

The Sun have reported Carlos Vela will be on his way back to Arsenal this summer. Vela, who is not going to the World Cup with Mexico this summer, has plenty of opportunity to sign a deal. He recently poke of how much he didn't enjoy his last spell with the club. However he has also mentioned in the past that he is no longer averse to a return.

Arsenal have a £3.25 million buy-back option in his deal at Real Sociedad, which they are expected to exercise this week.

Sociedad now value him at around £25 million - but they can do nothing about Arsenal's interest and have been trying to cancel the clause in the last couple of weeks.

Arsenal are being linked with Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte this week. The talented Frenchman has had an exceptional campaign at the San Mames this year and is also being linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

He has a buyout clause set at £30 million in his current deal and Barcelona were another team briefly mentioned as keen.

His signature would likely spell the end of Thomas Vermaelen's Arsenal career.

Liverpool apparently want to hijack Arsenal's move for Ivorian right-back Serge Aurier. The Toulouse star has long been linked with a move to The Emirates, and has reportedly told friends North London will be his destination.

Liverpool are also after defensive reinforcement and Aurier might just be their man. However, Arsenal want him as a Bacary Sagna replacement, so might put up a better fight for his services.

Aurier is reportedly worth £7 million.

Arsenal star Santi Cazorla wants Cesc Fabregas to return to the club this summer.

Barcelona have told the former Arsenal captain he can leave the club this summer, with reports suggesting Chelsea have already agreed a fee for his transfer.

But Cazorla thinks the Gunners should exercise their buyback on the player:

"I've read that he could go to Chelsea but I'd prefer him to come to Arsenal because he's a great player and they really love him there. I don't know what his future is, but I hope that he will be happy and enjoys the team wherever he is."
