Manchester United starlet Tom Lawrence has been talking about making his debut at Old Trafford and the possibility of turning out for Wales against Holland later this week.
The 20-year-old spent the majority of last season on loan in the second and third tiers of English football. But with Ryan Giggs in temporary charge at United, Lawrence found himself given a chance to shine.
Lawrence started up front alongside James Wilson against Hull City, and while it was the latter who stole the show with a brace, the Welshman did not disappoint.
He has since been included in Chris Coleman’s senior Wales squad, and he may get the chance to show new United boss Louis van Gaal what he can do sooner than expected.
The 62-year-old’s Dutch side face Wales on Wednesday evening, and Lawrence is in line to make his second debut in a matter of weeks.
Speaking to Wales Online, the United man said, “If I play it could be an early chance to catch his eye which will be great, but I’m sure he will be concentrating on the World Cup.”
Holland entertain Wales in Amsterdam and while van Gaal will indeed be fine-tuning his preparations for Brazil, a good performance from Lawrence could see him lay down an early marker to be included in United’s first-team squad next season.
“I want to play games and make my mark and I feel I can do that,” Lawrence said.
And with confidence like that, few would bet against him achieving his goals.
