Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo has lifted the lid on the reasons Cesc Fabregas wants to leave the Nou Camp this summer.
Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign the former Arsenal star in a transfer, which could spark a mass frenzy from English clubs following the World Cup in Brazil.
MD claims Fabregas’ reasons for wanting to leave Barca are down top a combination of personal and professional factors.
“There are several reasons that led to Fabregas decision top leave the club. First, he doesn’t see a clear future under the project led by Luis Enrique,” reports MD.
“The chemistry with the fans has not been as expected – the Nou Camp whistled at him on more than one occasion last season and it looks very difficult to reverse the situation.”
Fabregas Barcelona return from Arsenal was seemingly perfect for Barca fans because the club had a natural replacement for Xavi.
However, Fabregas hasn’t had the opportunity to nail down a position similar to Xavi’s in the first team, demonstrated by the fact he’s played on either side of the midfield as well as up front since his move from Arsenal.
It’s difficult for him to become the midfielder Barca fans want him to be, when he doesn’t have a fair chance of playing in his best position regularly.
His vision in relation to Luis Enrique is likely to be clouded because Enrique is unlikely to take big risks next season.
Barca have just endured a season when they were beaten by Atletico Madrid in the La Liga race and watch Madrid’s giants battle in the Champions League final.
Therefore, the pressure next season is going to be huge around Barca, which will prompt Enrique to go with the experienced, iconic players that he’ll trust.
He’ll also be wary of making the mistake that plenty of managers make when they first go into a club, shaking up the key members of the dressing room by dropping them in favour of someone else.
Fabregas is frustrated on a personal level because he doesn’t have the love of Barca fans and on a professional level because he’s not getting the chance to address that problem.
