Lukasz Piszczek could become the second Polish international to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, after top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski agreed to join Bayern Munich on a free-transfer.
According to the Catalan TV station, as quoted by Polish newspaper Fakt, the Pole leads the wish list of the Barca manager for replacements to their, rumoured to be, outgoing star Dani Alves.
The Brazilian international has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, and according to The Mail, he has already told team-mates he will complete a stunning move to Paris Saint-Germain. Which, presumably, will happen shortly after the World Cup finishes.
If Piszczek does decide to join Barcelona this summer, he will undoubtedly have to hit the ground running to fill the boots of the 31-year-old Brazilian who over the years, has managed to put himself amongst the best right-backs in the club’s history.
The Mirror linked the Dortmund star to Arsenal earlier this year, where expectations would be a little bit more realistic for the Borussia Dortmund star as he would look to replace the decent, but not outstanding, Bacary Sagna.
The French full-back has already confirmed he will not be at Arsenal next season and replacing him will most likely be the first priority on Arsene Wenger’s list as he looks to fuel another title push for next season.
Lukasz Piszczek was an ambitious option to replace the outgoing Frenchman, but if Barcelona do in fact move on their interest in the former Champions League finalist, their chances may be even slimmer than they were to begin with.
