So this is how Mario would drive a Mercedes. Check out this crazy TV advert from Japan. There is a reason why these two giants have joined forces. Read on!
For many people this ad from Japan sounds like heaven as two of their favourite things come together, Mario and Mercedes. Its certainly different from the car ads you see in the UK that's for certain.
The ad starts off in the original Super Mario Bros. with Mario jumping in to the pixelated Mercedes GLA and driving, bashing, jumping and revving his way to the castle where he goes right over the flag and castle at the end of the level where it then goes in to the 'real world' where we are treated to some some slow motion views of the car in question.
Its the end of the ad that gets us. Mario looks quite aggressive compared to his usual vibrant and classic self and you will feel sorry for the little fella at the end who gets in the way of 'Angry Mario'!
There is a reason why Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz have joined forces. The car featured in the advert will be a playable car in Mario Kart 8 in Japan only via a DLC pack later on in the summer, that's the first time a licensed vehicle has been used in a Mario Kart game. We asked Nintendo UK about whether it will be viable outside Japan and here's what they said;
'The announcement this time was made by Mercedes-Benz Japan regarding their collaboration in Japan with NCL. As for the information relating to the distribution of the GLA kart for MK8 outside Japan, we will be able to announce this in the near future.'
That's not a no then and it also confirms that we can potentially look forward to some DLC in the near future too. Bring it on!
