Tottenham latest: Club interest in Valencia midfielder, Dawson distances himself from speculation

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur Football Club this Tuesday evening.

Tottenham are said to be interested in Valencia midfielder Ever Banega according to the Daily Mail.

Banega is also said to be a target of Sunderland, but new boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be exploring the possibility of signing the player, who is reportedly available for £5.5 million.

The report also says that the newly appointed Head Coach will prioritise a centre-back and a left-back in this transfer window.

Captain Michael Dawson has distanced himself from speculation that he may be leaving the club this summer after he appeared on TalkSport this morning.

Crystal Palace and Hull City were mooted as possible destinations for the 30-year-old defender, but he seems keen to stay at White Hart Lane.

He said: “I’ve been at Tottenham for nine and a half years. It’s a great football club and I’ve loved every minute of it while I’ve been here.

“The fans have been superb to me since day one because I’ve had some ups and downs like everyone does.

“The expectations are high and everyone wants to achieve them. We want to be in the top four and hopefully next year we’ll have another push.”

Tottenham are said to be baffled about the delay on the decision over whether they can build a new stadium according to the London Evening Standard.

The Department for Local Government and Communities is set to make a decision after a local business, Archway Sheet Metal Works appealed against the findings of a public inquiry that ruled for a Compulsory Purchase Order on behalf of the club.

The matter is still said to be under consideration.
