Chelsea transfer news: Blues circle United target, Courtois coy over Mourinho call

Stamford Bridge

A round up of transfer stories this morning about Chelsea.

Sky Sports claims Chelsea have joined the race to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke.

The La Liga giants are thought to be open to doing a deal for the long term United target and the Blues could add him to their midfield pack.

The reports which suggest Chelsea are also lining up a move to re-sign Tiago from Atletico could work in their favour.

Thibaut Courtois has refused to reveal details of a phone call between himself and Blues boss Jose Mourinho.

There has been great debate over Courtois’ next move and whether he’ll return to Chelsea or push to stay in La Liga with Atletico Madrid.

“I received a phone call from Mourinho a few weeks ago. This was before the match against Barcelona. But the conversation stays private,” he’s quoted by the Metro.

Frank Lampard has confirmed he won’t be a Chelsea player heading into next season.

The midfielder is expected to sign a deal with New York City FC, the sister club of Premier League champions Manchester City.

“Whatever the next challenge is for me I will always be amongst you and have Chelsea in my heart,” said Lampard in a statement.
