Chelsea supporters have voted an outgoing star as the club's best ever player.
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea career is at an end, with the iconic midfielder set to become the latest star to link up with new franchise New York City FC in the MLS.
Lampard’s career for the blues doesn’t need to be glorified or sold because he’ll forever be a legend in West London.
He managed to maintain an impressive strike rate of nearly one goal in every three games throughout his Chelsea career, notching 211 strikes in his 648 appearances for the club.
Goal responded to Lampard’s statement yesterday by asking Chelsea fans to vote on whether the midfield maestro should be considered the best player to ever pull on a Chelsea shirt.
At the time of writing the results were unanimous, with 78% of those who took part suggesting Lampard is the best player to have ever graced the hallowed turf at Stamford Bridge.
His motives for going to the MLS are difficult to gauge considering Jose Mourinho would have more than likely commissioned another deal for him to stay at the West London side playing Premier League football.
However, that decision has been removed from Mourinho and the Portuguese boss now has to go about replacing the man that several fans consider Chelsea’s greatest ever player.
