Report: Lallana's relationship with Southampton breaking down, with player desperate for Liverpool move

Adam Lallana

Could there be an ugly twist in the transfer saga between Southampton and Liverpool for Lallana?

Adam Lallana is desperate to move complete a move to Liverpool, but is finding his path blocked by Southampton avoiding his calls to inform them on his decision, according to a report.

Adam Blackmore, who is Sports Editor for Solent Radio, revealed last night that Lallana’s relationship with club officials has become strained during the transfer saga and is threatening to completely break down.

Liverpool have been reportedly interested in the creative midfielder for a significant period of time and it appears they have made a £25 million bid for the 26-year-old this week.

However, Saints’ players have been the subject of much interest in recent times, and with Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw both looking set to leave St. Mary’s this summer, they are desperate not to lose another of their protagonists.

The board are also keen to ensure that they do not come across as a ‘soft target’ and they do not need to sell, with the club already in a healthy financial situation.

Lallana, though, has his own interests in mind and, despite an obvious affinity with the club who he has spent the entirety of his career at, is determined to move to Anfield – with the lure of Champions League football at the forefront of his thinking.

Liverpool are thought to want to complete the deal in the near future and will not be raising their £25 million offer any further, but Southampton are in no hurry to sell – with interest in Lallana widespread.

This is to the England international’s annoyance and he feels that he is due more respect from the club, given his years of loyal service to the Saint’s shirt.

It all means that the saga could have a rather sour end to it, with Lallana's relationship with Southampton starting to fray.

Lallana flew out to Miami on England duty yesterday and his national team manager Roy Hodgson will be wanting to ensure that this is no distraction on his performance for his country at the upcoming World Cup.
