Manchester United and Liverpool get Shaw and Lallana shock from Southampton

Southampton have told Manchester United and Liverpool: Hands off!

Southampton have issued a firm statement via Twitter to emphasise they are not going to be selling their top stars at present.

The Saints have sold Rickie Lambert to Liverpool in a deal announced today, but they have stated they have no need to accept any further offers for players.

The club stated they have received 'multiple' offers for their top stars, believed to be Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana, both valued in the region of £30 million each.

Manchester United have been prioritising Luke Shaw at left-back and Liverpool chasing Lallana, and the club's stance to reject a windfall of £60 million for the pair comes at odds to reports previously indicating both clubs were closing on deals.

Where Southampton go from here depends on the preferences on the vision of their next manager. With the Saints attempting to lure the best possible candidate, showing they are a club determined to move forward, and in no need of major surgery, will help them do this.

It appears clear neither player will be sold prior to the World Cup, whether Southampton can maintain their stance through the whole summer may depend on the personality of the new man at the helm.
