Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs already during the close-season, with the usual suspects Manchester United and Arsenal joined by three more Premier League giants.
Manchester City have reportedly joined the Gunners in ruling themselves out of a move for the Spanish international. But Chelsea and Liverpool have also seen their names thrown into an increasingly full hat.
But just when you thought that was it in terms of apparent suitors, Mundo Deportivo has added another English club to the mix, and it is a cracker.
The other club to which Fabregas could head this summer is…are you ready for this…Tottenham Hotspur!
Yes, the former Gunner is being tipped to join their North London rivals, which either means we are set for one of the biggest transfer stories in decades or – more likely – silly season has just got even sillier.
The report is predominantly about the claim that Fabregas has decided to leave the Nou Camp this summer, which is kind of old news now. But right at the bottom of the report is the suggestion that the 27-year-old favours a return to London even if Arsenal are not interested.
It concludes with the suggestion that he could head to Chelsea following the departure of Frank Lampard or to Tottenham, although the latter’s lack of Champions League participation could put them at a disadvantage.
Something tells me that would not be the only disadvantage, with Fabregas unlikely to swap Arsenal fandom for a stint at the Lilywhites.
Welcome to the crazy world of the transfer market…and it is only just getting started.
