Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has described Xabi Alonso as “the most disciplined” player in the team.
The Spain international midfielder joined the Spanish giants from Liverpool in 2009 and has established himself as one of the best players for Los Blancos.
The 32-year-old is one of the key players under Ancelotti and was an instrumental figure in the Madrid outfit winning the Copa del Rey and the Champions League in the 2013-14 campaign.
One of the most respected players in the world, Alonso is hardly ever in the news for any off-pitch problems, while on the pitch, he does not get into much trouble. A model professional, the former Liverpool midfielder signed a contract extension with the 10-time European champions in January which will see him remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2016.
Ancelotti, who was appointed the Madrid coach only last summer, has now hailed Alonso for his professionalism. The Italian tactician also gave insight into the dressing room situation at Los Blancos, saying that of all the players in his team, Marcelo is the funniest.
‘Xabi Alonso is the most disciplined player in the changing room and Marcelo is the most fun player with the best sense of humour’, the 54-year-old told Telecinco.
