Chelsea transfer news: Huge Lampard replacements linked, more on Varane & Ivanovic

All the latest transfer news & rumours from SW6 including potential bid for former Arsenal star, a Manchester United target & Real Madrid defender.

While Frank Lampard's Chelsea career has officially been concluded, after the English midfielder issued a heartfelt exit statement here, there has been news that the club could potentially replace the player with one of two options - and both of them would shake up the transfer market considerably.

Option number one would be Barcelona player Cesc Fabregas, a superstar at Arsenal, yet surplus to requirements at Camp Nou.

Fabregas could be one of the most exquisite footballers available in the summer market and, even though Guillem Balague opined that his failure at Barca was largely down to not being able to operate in a far more tactically disciplined team than he was in Arsenal, he does have Premier League experience in abundance.

Fabregas was the jewel in manager Arsene Wenger's crown for many a season, but left in search for pastures Barca - where he will now be offloaded should a bidding team table in excess of £30m - a fee Chelsea, of course, have, after ratifying the mega-money sale of David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain.

Fabregas is also wanted by Manchester United, while Wenger is apparently unwilling to take him back at Arsenal.

Option number two is a player who has "extremely impressed" Jose Mourinho and one long on Manchester United and Barcelona's radar - Koke Resurreccion

A potential stumbling block in any deal for Koke, is that he only recently (January) renewed terms with his employer, Atletico Madrid.

Other players linked with Chelsea include Raphael Varane, again, and Gunners target Antoine Griezmann, who would cost any suitor £25m.

And finally, Wolfsburg have been linked with Romelu Lukaku while PSG want Branislav Ivanovic to join Luiz at Parc des Princes.
